...To Talk of Many Things...

Alright, now it's time for the second part of my long Blizzcon/Disneyland photo-journal update!

When we last left off we were beginning our journey towards the Haunted Mansion, which, as stated before, was decked out in full Nightmare Before Christmas decorations. Here's a closer look at a few of the really neat looking ones:

After that we went out to pick up some souveneirs and some food, there's Jessica below with the Nightmare Before Christmas top hat she bought outside the Mansion.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get any really good pictures of the next classic ride we went on: The Pirates of the Carribean. It was neat seeing the small additions made to the attraction, with characters from the films added in at small spaces, not really detracting from the over all nostalgic atmosphere of the ride.

And here we have one of the most nostalgic parts of Disneyland for me: The Dumbo ride. If you were a child and you went to Disneyland, there was no way you didn't hop onto one of these flying elephants and go for a spin! I only wish it had been earlier in the day, maybe I'd have gone for one last spin...

Next blog, we begin our journey to the mystical realm of...

BLIZZCON!!

The Time Has Come The Tuskarr Said...

Well, it took me a good deal longer then I had expected it to, but I finally have all of the pictures from my camera ready to post up here from my recent adeventure in the Los Angeles/Anahiem area!

First we have a few snippets from our first stop on the trip:

DISNEYLAND!! WOOO!!!

Here we are at the front gates, about to make our way in to...

Main Street! A beautiful, scenic look back at days long past in our proud country. And what lies at the end of this historic boulevard?

The magnificent grace that is Sleeping Beauty's Castle.

Here's Jessica standing infront of one of the many cobra statues lining the entry way into the Indiana Jones attraction. It has to be one of the most detailed parts of the entire park... and it's just where the lines shuffle through!

And next, we have an old favorite of many: The Haunted Mansion! Apparently, as it was nearing the Halloween season, it had been redecorated, both inside and out, to resemble characters and events from Tim Burton's stop motion masterpiece, The Nightmare Before Christmas.

These are just a few snippets from the many, many more pictures I have, but that's all I have time to throw up here right now.

So, Signing off for now!

'Hey, The Kings Back...!'

I return now from my whirlwind of fun and adventure...! ...and terrible, nightmarish traffic jams and horrendous drivers. Now... normally, California traffic doesn't bother me, having lived in the Bay Area for nearly 20 years...but I suppose living out in the country in Kansas for almost 4 years... does tend to dull ones sense of caution on the highway. Where once I was used to a hundred idiots trying to merge into each other every day...I am now used to say...seeing a car on my way to work on the highway. Or three.

But anyway... the trip was incredible! It was fun being back to the Magical Kingdom...not much had seemed to have changed in 13 years... but it was still incredible to just be there again...

And Blizzcon... well... these stories will come in the next few days, with many, many pictures... for now... I leave you with this... a small, guilty pleasure of mine:

On the Eve of the Eve of an Important Event!

Today is the day I began planning the trip to Los Angeles. The day hotel reservations for the trip to and from the Airport are set in motion on this side of the country, and the day I sort out the things I shall deem worthy or unworthy of this trip.

I think things are finally starting to sink in now... Tomorrow, after my shift at Walmart, I'm going to come home, grab my bags and my girl, and swing my way up to Kansas City for the night. Grab a couple hours of rest, and hop on a plane for the City of Angels. The last time I was in Los Angeles, if memory serves, was for a visit to Disneyland... but then again, as a child what other reason would you go there if not for the amusement parks? Anyway... it was shortly after the opening of the new Indiana Jones attraction at the park...which places it at about... Thirteen years ago... Damn.

Well anyway, our plane is going to be arriving in Los Angeles at about noon or so Pacific time on Thursday, a good day before Blizzcon. So I've decided that me and my girlfriend, Jessica, are going to check into our hotel and go for her first ever trip to said Magical Kingdom. Since it's only, ya know, right across the street from the Anahiem Convetion Center...

So that sums up my next four days pretty well, should be a fun time. Might try to put up some pictures during the convention, but more then likely, will have a big post with pictures from it a few days after.

October 6th... A Day that is on the Calendar.

Today is October the 6th. Huzzah for reaching my twenty fourth year upon this Earth! I look back at all my years and still cannot help but think... my god, all the stuff I used to think was beyond outstandingly cool as a child...is now the height of retro. I suppose part of this comes with my continued fascination with video games, but then again, that seems to be the case with most people of my generation... my god... I'm no longer in the current generation... I can now look back at smaller children and say 'Why in my day...' ... in my day, we didn't have your fancy PS360 majiggers with their 56-D graphics and fully controllable every which way shaking hho-ha controllers! We had things that looked like boxes... REALLY realistic boxes that shot other, smaller boxes at us, and we tried to stop them with our tiny boxes by pressing between two and four buttons! Four if you were top of the line in those days...

Someday I will hold my child on my knee and say: 'Son/Daughter...' That will be thier name. Obviously... '...one day, long from now....you'll look back on these things with fond memories... and joyful merriment.... and then, when you play them again... you'll realize how good you'll have it in the now.'

No Megaman. I'm not still bitter. Not after eighteen years.

I hate you.... but why do I keep coming back.... I need your scorn....

Day Two- Counting Down from Eight.

Starting off with another quick entry on my day off today. Thus marks the first of the month of October, the month I always look forward to the most in the year. October marks for me the beginning of the end for the year, the holidays begin to pour in and the whole muddled year wraps itself up nicely. Halloween comes by, offering me my opportunity to indulge in the wonders of Horror for a few long weeks, and marks the coming of Thanksgiving less then a month away... which of course initiates the long countdown through the Christmas season...and finally, the birth of the New Year.

But this year, October holds more significance then usual for me. First, I will find myself reaching my 24th year on this Earth. Not an especially incredible number, but to me, it merely signifies that I have already lived out almost a quarter of a century. It's amazing for me to look back at simply things that I've never really even thought about before this year: Ten years ago from September 1st, I was entering High School. Twenty Years ago I was entering Kindergarten. It all gets pretty surreal at times... makes me wonder what it will be like once I reach my thirtieth year, or fiftieth...

But now on to the second reason October feels so significant this year: Blizzcon 2008. I admit, to many, it may not seem like something that special, and to some, they might not even have any idea what I am speaking about, but to me and my girlfriend, it means a lot. This will first off, be our first out of state trip together. We'll be flying out of Kansas and making our way down to Los Angeles in just about a week. When we arrive I am going to take her to her first ever trip to Disneyland, before we retire for the night and prepare ourselves for the following days...

Blizzcon is the official Blizzard Entertainment convention for all of their games, which my girlfriend and I have been fans of for many, many years now. In particular of late, World of Warcraft. Yes, we've been playing WoW for almost four years now together, alternating between both in game perspectives: Horde and Alliance. As of this moment, we favor the Horde, and as the title of my blog suggests, I am an orc warlock in the game.

At Blizzcon, we are going to be able to meet up with anyone from the game we might want to meet, though unfortunately, none of our closer friends will be there, but we will also have the pleasure of meeting, and listening in on many different panels, being directed by the developers of the games we've both been playing since childhood.

Well, that's all for right now, till later, Signing off.

Day One- The Beginning is the End is the Middle.

Well... here we are. A day I said would never come. I've always found myself at odds with blogs, journals, and other such writing places where I have to recount daily events. I have tried on numerous occasions to keep them before, but, always they end the same way. With me wondering to myself, just who is this book really for in the end? Myself? Perhaps, though reading back over my old journal entries from failed attempts in the years past, I find my writing both lacking and somewhat unintelligble. I seemed to ramble on about little inane things that give me no real insights into the past or period in which they were written.

But perhaps with this things will be different. As I type this, I am already in a rush and find myself with little time to fill this post with much substance. I'm going to throw on my shoes and rush out the door for work. Yes, another lovely day in the Wal-mart meat department. Perhaps when I return home I can add here. We'll see what the day holds when we get to that.

For now, this is me, Day One. Signing off.
